B.V. Jagadeesh who shot into fame as the cofounder of Exodus Communications, is now gearing up to take NetMagic, the Mumbai-based Internet data center and managed service provider to the next level of growth. NetMagic recently set up its first data center in Bangalore and over the next few months it will be opening centers in Chennai and Delhi taking its tally in India to five across four cities. Set up in 1998, with two data centers in Mumbai, NetMagic has been providing managed hosting and remote infrastructure management to Indian companies. Currently it has around 450 customers, most of them in Mumbai. With new centers across the country and a recently strengthened top management team NetMagic is now looking to expand its customer base both within the country and also tap the US market. The employee base is also expected to increase from the current 180 to 700 by the end of next year. "The foundation has been laid. We are now hitting the hockey stick curve," says Jagadeesh, who is an investor and chairman of the company. By the end of March 2007, Jagadeesh expects around 20 per cent of its revenues to come from US from the current 2 per cent. "Our strategy is to build smart data centers enabled with the latest technology as a service offering to our customers. Our main target is the small and medium businesses and we want to be a total solutions provider for them," says he.
