NetMagic plans more data centres
The Hindu, Business Line August 8, 2007
NetMagic Solutions has accelerated its data centre investments in India. The company has in the last 12 months grown from one data centre to five, including a virtual data centre at Sunnyvale in the US. Two of these are to be commissioned in the next six months. The existing ones are located in Mumbai and Bangalore. It is planning to take it to a dozen in a span of 2 to 3 years.
"Our immediate plan is to open 2 more data centres in Mumbai by end-2008," Mr Sharad Sanghi, CEO and Founder NetMagic Solutions, told Business Line.
He also hinted at the possibility of establishing data centres in Hyderabad and Pune based on demand.
"With more and more companies seeking to outsource IT infrastructure management services, the demand for such services is on the rise considering the supply. Such services are offered by service providers like us to enable companies reduce the cost of downtime and focus on their core area of operation. Smaller companies find it increasingly difficult to retain IT staff round the clock. Initially, there were issues concerning security. With the evolution of security standards, this has been resolved to a great extent," he explained.
The investment on each of these centres has ranged between $3 million and 5 million. Over 3,000 servers have currently been hosted out of NetMagic's existing data centres. On the growing trend for adoption of such services, he said: "in the beginning, we used to manage the infrastructure of customers hosted within our data centre. Now we have extended this service by offering to manage IT infrastructure outside the data centre. For overseas clients, who do not even work with us (in the US), we offer to manage several servers and network equipments, firewall and database of customers".
The company has registered a year-on-year growth of 100 per cent and is upbeat about the growth potential.
