Deputy General Manager – Software Development

Department: Operations

Reporting to: AVP – QA, Process, Process Automation, Internal IT and BCP & IT-DR

Work Shift: General shift

Location: Mumbai

Primary Responsibilities

MANAGERIAL:


• Direct and manage software project development from receipt of BRS till deployment
• Define and develop SRS including project scope, goals, objectives, timelines, deliverables and personnel
• Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and the project status to the business user in a timely and clear fashion
• Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis
• Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
• Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
• Responsible for quality of deliverables, and control over the delivery performance of the team members
• Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
• Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders and must have the ability to delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
• Be well versed with SDLC process methodology
• Establish and manage teams for design, development & implementation and maintenance & support of the developed applications for its lifetime
• Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
• Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise team members and contractors

FINANCIAL:


• Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
• Determine and assess need for additional staff and / or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle
• Identify required development, testing and maintenance tools necessary for functioning of the software team and seek budget approvals from Management for procurement
• Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management

Mandatory Technical Skills

• J2EE, HTML, PHP
• DATABASES: MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle Ability to design and management databases
• DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORKS: Echo 2, GWT, Spring, Struts, JQuery
• INTEGRATION FRAMEWORKS: Web services, API development, XML feeds, JSON
• WEBSERVERS: Tomcat, IIS, Apache, JBoss,
• OPERATING SYSTEMS: Windows, Linux, Unix,
• SCRIPTING LANGUAGES: Java script, Perl script, Shell script,
• IDE: Eclipse, Netbeans,
• Documentation
• Code reviewing skills
• Web 2.0 exposure

Desired Technical Skills

• WEBSERVERS: Weblogic, Websphere
• LANGUAGES: Ruby on rails, Grails

Typical Years of Experience

• 12 years+

Education Qualifications

Any Graduate/ Post Graduate
