How can I have my data and applications in the cloud and still maintain control over organizational network topology and policies? How can I keep my existing in-house physical infrastructure that doesn't scale but still borrow additional resources using cloud computing when I need it?
Netmagic's HybriCloud is the simplest answer to those critical decision-maker questions.
The Hybrid cloud infrastructure is a composition cloud infrastructure and dedicated infrastructure that remain unique entities but are bound together by standardized or proprietary technology that enables data and application portability. This means you can have the same network topology and policies that are existent in your own datacenter.
Our HybriCloud service allows customers to have a mix of virtual and physical infrastructure if they need it. Customers subscribing to our collocation or dedicated hosting services can augment existing physical infrastructure by securely provisioning additional capacity from our public cloud and pay as per usage.
So how does the Netmagic HybriCloud work?
The key to understanding our hybrid cloud service is Netmagic's Virtual Private Datacenter (VPDC) which provides compute, network and storage capacity by creating private, isolated instances on Netmagic's SimpliCloud grids.
HybriCloud works by allowing you to create an isolated environment within Netmagic's SimpliCloud grid by spawning instances within a virtual network that is defined by you. It allows you to have the same network topology and policies that are existent in your own datacenter. For example, webservers can be within an internet-facing public subnet, while sensitive machines like application and database servers can reside within a private subnet with no public access.
Additionally, you can create a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection between your existing datacenter and your Netmagic VPDC. The VPDC becomes an extension of your private network allowing you to leverage the scalability and elasticity of Netmagic's cloud to augment your existing server, network and storage capacity in real-time.
Additionally, you can run VPDC instances as either Fixed or Elastic servers, which allow you to consume them in an 'always-on' mode OR in a 'pay-by-the-hour' mode.
Did someone say 'cloud bursting'?
Let's say you've created a private cloud but need more resources only during infrequent peak load requirements. Our HybriCloud service gives you the added flexibility to use resources from our public cloud during peak requirements. This is called cloud bursting, where the load is balanced between the two clouds.
