Founded in 1995, IndiaInfoline provided research reports in print to national and international giants like Ernst & Young, Citibank, Compaq and Hindustan Lever. It started providing its services online in 1999. Its services range from Equity research and trading, Mutual Funds, Life Insurance, Portfolio Management, Fixed Deposits and savings instruments, Investment Banking and Loan products. In mid-2000, it launched www.5paisa.com, an online trading site offering technical analysis, real time stock quotes and market news. After a hugely successful IPO in 2005 and in the face of growing business load, IndiaInfoline felt the need to streamline its IT infrastructure. It also wanted to redirect the focus of precious human capital towards its core business, instead of the running, maintenance and upgrading of its IT operations.
