Windows Engineer – L2

Department: Operations
Reporting to: Team Leader

Work Shift: Rotating Shift

Location: Bangalore



Primary Responsibilities

  • Carry out the advance level of trouble shooting on Windows OS and applications
  • Work in a 24 X 7 Environment (NOC)
  • Extend technical support the Clients over email as well as phone
  • Good communication written and verbal
  • Responsible for the uptime of the various client projects being managed / monitored
  • Ensure that the Tickets raised per shift are closed in the required time limits and if not escalated as per the escalation Matrix defined
  • Raise and also update the tickets in CRM for all the issues handled / worked upon
  • Shift report generation on daily issues handled / escalated in the form of Daily reports
  • Work on the change request and new Installations
  • Apply patches to the OS / applications or upgrade the applications as and when required, as per the approval from the respective Team Leaders
  • Monitoring & Management of Backup Application
  • Support Mail applications
  • Conduct audits of the setups done by the fellow engineers to make sure that the setup being handed over to the customer is done to the customer’s satisfaction
  • Ensure earlier resolution to the issues to meet SLA
  • Following up with Vendors – hardware & software whenever required & resolve issues by minimizing downtimes




Secondary Responsibilities

  • Customer related sundry activities
  • Help project team in commissioning of new customer and change request




Mandatory Technical Skills

  • Windows Administration preferably Win2K3 & W2K
  • Basic knowledge of SQL 2K, SQL 2k5 (Installation, Database creation, Backup etc..
  • Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange
  • Hands on knowledge of configuring IIS, Antivirus etc
  • Should have a strong knowledge of DNS




Typical Years of Experience

  • Minimum 3-6 yr of relevant experience in the IT industry, especially over Windows, IIS and Exchange. Should have experience supporting the customer on technical issues




Education Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent




Mandatory Skills

  • Excellent Communication skills, both verbal as well as written
