  1. What is the difference between Exchange and other basic POP email services?
Most POP email systems provide basic email. Beyond that, most include limited collaboration and communication tools; some include none.

Exchange includes rich options not only for managing email, but also for managing calendars and contacts. All information can be securely and appropriately shared among users. For instance, users can schedule meetings, reserve conference rooms, create and post to public folders, and access corporate contact lists. Exchange allows a much greater level of collaboration and workflow.

  2. What is the difference between NetMagic's Shared Exchange and Dedicated Exchange hosting?
Customers who opt for our Shared Exchange services have their mailboxes on servers and SAN devices that may also be shared by other NetMagic customers. Shared Exchange customers contract a specific number of mailboxes, so charges are per mailbox, and the space per mailbox is limited to either 100 MB or 200 MB per mailbox. Backup and Firewall are provided by default. Shared Exchange, therefore, is a cost effective and effective way for small enterprises to start using Exchange without incurring the higher costs associated with Dedicated Exchange. NetMagic's Dedicated Exchange Hosting, on the other hand, hosting provides your organization with its own hosted Exchange server. No other company's email will flow over it. This option is typically chosen by larger small and mid-sized businesses with stringent performance and security requirements. Dedicated Exchange is more customizable in terms of Bandwidth, Backup, and Firewall options, and customers have more mailbox-size options since they have the entire server's resources at their disposal.

In either case, servers are hosted onsite in NetMagic's data center, where they are monitored and managed 24x7 by our expert staff.

  3. Why should I choose Hosted Exchange over in-house Exchange?
Good question, and one that we get frequently asked. Implementing Microsoft Exchange is more than just a question of the one time and recurring costs. It's a question of 24x7 Management, a question of redundant datacenter and bandwidth infrastructure, a question of having access to a pool of unlimited resources, a question of being able to implement any supplemental service - such as Firewalls, Backups, Load Balancing, seamless and immediately.

And very importantly, it's a question of upgrades, which NetMagic provides at no additional cost. For a detailed comparison between Hosted and in-house Exchange, click here.
