Netmagic expands Managed Security Services portfolio with Fortinet’s Solutions
Netmagic’s enterprise customers will now enjoy proactive protection with Fortinet’s robust and easy to manage security appliances
Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) – a world leader in high-performance network security – today announced that Netmagic Solutions, an NTT Communications company and India's largest pure-play managed IT hosting services provider, has deployed Fortinet's FortiGate® consolidated security platform in its datacenters. The FortiGate® security platform will now be offered as part of Netmagic’s comprehensive Managed Security Services portfolio to enterprises across the large, medium and small enterprises in India. Netmagic chose Fortinet's solutions for their comprehensive and integrated security functionality, ease of management and cost effectiveness.
In 2009 Netmagic decided to go for a technology refresh of its stand-alone security solutions viz. application security and network security solutions with an objective to improve its levels of threat coverage, ease of management and lower costs. After evaluating multiple security solutions, Netmagic shortlisted Fortinet’s Fortigate® consolidated security platform.
Fortinet’s network appliances' comprehensive threat coverage capability, high performance and affordability helped us decide to go ahead with them. They are also quick to deploy, easy to manage, and strongly supported by the Fortinet channel, said Nitin Mishra, Senior VP Products & Services, Netmagic Solutions.
Following the deployment of the Fortinet solutions, Netmagic has seen its managed security services customer base grow by 25 percent year-over-year, while the maintenance cost per customer fell by about 10 percent. The reduced security breaches − which cut the number of incident tickets to be managed − also allowed the service provider to save on human resources. Netmagic currently provides Fortinet powered security services to over 100 customers − covering a few thousand end-users across India.
Fortinet's FortiGate appliances provide enterprise-class protection against network, content and application-level threats. They give Netmagic an integrated security platform hosting the full range of security functions, including application firewall, VPN, Web filtering, IPS, antivirus and antispam. In properly planned and sized networks and appliances, these features can be turned on without degradation of firewall performance.
Vishak Raman, Senior Regional Director, India and SAARC, Fortinet, said:
